When it comes to things I like in life as much as I love Elizabeth Bennet, I’d put very few things on the list. But one item I’d happily add, is a good list itself. The pure act of listing things relaxes me – I write one every morning at work to simplify the rest of my day into something manageable. I also love to read lists. In fact, as a child I was once found “reading the thesaurus” – in actual fact I was reading little jump out boxes that had lists of related words in them on different topics, such as ‘pirates’ and ‘fabrics’. I never was a normal child. So when a book came along that combined my love of Jane Austen with my love of lists, I was ecstatic.

As a Sydney-sider, I find it particularly fun when I come across Australians with a Jane Austen side to them. Even more so when they release Pride and Prejudice-orientated books (see my review from yesterday) that have me gushing.

A review copy of Celebrating Pride and Prejudice: 200 Years of Jane Austen’s Masterpiece by Susannah Fullerton (Jane Austen Society of Australia president) turned up at my local post office in early December, having been sent from the PR Department of Quayside Publishing Group. It is an absolute delight, and I’ve been dying to post about it.

From cover to cover, every Pride and Prejudice fan will be enthralled.

I was contacted by Amanda Grange’s publicist with a review copy of Dear Mr Darcy early in late May. Leaping at the chance to have an early read of this book, and to provide readers of The Bennet Sisters with a Q&A from the writer herself, I downloaded my Kindle version and got to reading.

For anyone that loves typography, design, words and books, these covers are absolutely perfect. All I can do now is dream that they get picked up and run with, because I would love these on my shelves as a series in hardback.

This beautiful Pride and Prejudice piece is the result of Leah Doguet, a 22-year-old who currently lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “I recently graduated from Tyler School of Art with a degree in Graphic & Interactive Design,” she told The Bennet Sisters, and it’s obvious, from the series of covers she has designed below, that she’s very talented.

Having been looking for new Pride and Prejudice covers to showcase on this blog, I stumbled upon a beautiful design from graphic designer, Laurén Magda, a 23 year old recent graduate (College of Creative Studies – Detroit, Michigan). I just couldn’t say no to asking her more about it, and she agreed to share some of her thoughts about the book, her life, her design and Pride and Prejudice with The Bennet Sisters.
